Posting History (133)

Pops, I hope you read this before you leave…

Sometimes we forget as passionate fans that players and coaches (and even refs) are real people with real feelings and real parents, family, etc. I did tonight and I made a comment about Carleigh that I wish I could take back. I will never question her heart or her effort or her loyalty to VA Tech. And I appreciate you sharing her with us. This was a tough night for Hokie fans and no doubt it was most difficult for our players. From a Hokie Dad to a Hokie Dad I’m truly sorry.

Only about 1 in 22,400 basketball games end where a team…

Scores more than 100 points and loses. We witnessed a very rare 5 sigma event this evening!

How would folks feel about Van Lith as a Hokie…

Caveat… I trust Coach Duffy to make that decision. Me… I would support it.

Love the hire! Now the question…

Who can she keep (current players and recruits) and who can she bring from Marquette (players/recruits/coaches). Amoore learning from the starting PG and team captain of a US Olympic team that won gold seems like it would be very appealing.

What I want in our next coach…

Is a more athletic and aggressive style of play. That’s where the women’s game is going and we struggled with those types of teams. Without a generational player like Kitley in the line up we might have been very average. I liked Brooks and wish we still had him, but I think that was his weakness.

I’m betting that Amoore ends up at Iowa…

That’s why we haven’t heard anything yet. Waiting until after Iowa’s run is done to announce. They will certainly have the $ once Clark goes pro. Good culture match, etc. Hate to see it, but better than Tucky.

After reading Chris Coleman’s article…

My biggest concern may be that Brooks didn’t think he could sustain that level of success AT Virginia Tech because Tech is IN the ACC. Brooks won’t leave Kentucky after 5 years and Buzz won’t leave Texas A&M after 5 years because they ARE IN the SEC… unless they’re fired. So, the problem might be that he thought he peaked at Virginia Tech because of the resources available to the program. So, unless we get in the SEC or B1G I’m afraid any success will be short lived as any great coached or players that come along will jump ship for bigger money.

So very very disappointed…

Brooks leaving is a gut punch. I knew Buzz would leave… I appreciate all he did, but I knew he wasn’t one of us. However, I considered Brooks one of us… one of our own. That made the success all the sweeter. If VT doesn’t join the FSU/Clemson lawsuit(s) to leave the ACC, then I will take one more step away from being engaged in VT sports. Without being on an equal playing field with the SEC and B1G, then this will continue to happen. And, so, the question will be… what if we get another great coach, what if we get another great player because more than likely they will be lured away by big money. If Brent Pry ends up being a great coach do any of us think that we can keep him? Women’s basketball had become my new #1 sport because I naively thought it was protected from all the big boy money and influence. Boy was I wrong. Just a real gut punch. Makes me question what am I really rooting for and supporting?

CY said Pedulla is all down hill… all gas and no brakes!

I can’t think of a better description of Pedulla. It either results in something incredible or a train wreck… you get one with the other z

I agree HokiePro… I love Kitley and always will, but this team is still a…

Sweet 16 team. Amoore is our field general, Strack and others can step up. Getting the first 2 rounds in Cassel is absolutely key though AND I think we have to win at least one round in the ACCT to ensure that.

As much as I hate losing the game & the potent implications of Kitley’s

injury to the ACC and NCAA Tournaments… I just feel awful for her… just devastated that she would end her college career like this if it is a season ending injury. That makes everything else small in comparison. She has done so much and means so much to Hokie Nation. I really hope and pray for HER sake, not my selfish sake, that it’s not season ending.

For those that say the Irish was physical… I disagree…

They out hustled us tonight, they were faster, quicker and more locked in. That manifested itself in rebounds too. Combine that with an off night shooting and you have a loss. We can beat the Irish and will probably get another crack at them at the ACCT.
